ABE | CLUB & LOUNGE

Situated in a former bank building and with a très chique interior. ABE Club & Lounge is one the city’s most posh places in town. Stairs made of gold bars, old banknotes on the wall and the ancient, shiny bank interior give that golden oldie feeling of classy clubbing back in the days.

The club is an homage to Abraham Carel Wertheim (1832 – 1897). He is Amsterdam’s patron of the arts and former Director of Wertheim & Gompertz bank . He used his wealth to improve Amsterdam’s cultural institutions.

Eclectic chique

In 1872 the yet existing bank building has been remodeled, just like it has been done again in 2013. The ‘Eclecticism’ has remained safe and unharmed, maintaining a mix of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque influences as the chosen architect gave the old bank in the 19th century. But today it has been given a 2013 top coat layer.

Entering the club is an experience on its own; while being welcomed by a perfectly styled and good-looking crew in a chiquely dark and clubby, but warm and homely setting at the same time, you know tonight’s gonna be a good night.
